L’ispirazione per questo nuovo schema nasce dagli sugar skulls, o calaveras, i dolcetti tradizionali a forma di piccoli teschi di pasta di zucchero riccamente decorati che vengono realizzati in occasione del giorno dei morti in Messico.

Per celebrare l’ormai prossimo Halloween mi sono divertita a realizzare il mio personale sugar skull infarcito di decori e colori, di seguito troverete lo schema per realizzare il vostro allegro teschietto, personalizzabile nei colori che preferite.

Materiali

 

• cotone di colore bianco, nero, arancio, verde, azzurro, rosso e viola più altri colori a piacere
• uncinetto n. 2,5
• ago e forbici
• imbottitura sintetica

TESTA

1. Con il cotone di colore bianco lavorare 6 mb (maglie basse) nell’anello magico.

2. 2 mb in ogni maglia bassa: totale 12 mb

3. (1 mb, 2 mb nella mb seguente) x 6 volte: tot. 18 mb

4. (2 mb, 2 mb nella mb segente) x 6 volte: tot. 24 mb

5. (3 mb, 2 mb nella mb seguente) x 6 volte: tot 30 mb

6. (4 mb, 2 mb nella mb seguente) x 6 volte: tot 36 mb

7. (5 mb, 2 mb nella mb seguente) x 6 volte: tot 42 mb

8. (3 mb, 2 mb nella mb seguente, 3 mb) x 6 volte: tot 48 mb

9 – 15. lavorare 48 mb (7 giri)

16. (6 mb, 1 diminuzione) x 6 volte: tot 42 mb

17. (3 mb, 1 diminuzione) x 5 volte, 17 mb: tot 37 mb

18. 4 mb, 1 diminuzione, 4 mb, 2 diminuzioni, 4 mb, 1 diminuzione, 17 mb, : tot 33 mb

19. (3 mb, 1 diminuzione) x 4 volte, 13 mb: tot 29 mb

20. 5 mb, 1 diminuzione, (2 mb, 1 diminuzione) x 2 volte, 13 mb: tot 25 mb

21. 1 aumento, (1 mb, 1 diminuzione) x 4 volte, 1 aumento, 11 mb: tot 23 mb

Ora procediamo a lavorare solo una parte del giro per restringere il ‘buco’

22. 13 mb, 1 catenella e girare il lavoro

23. 2 mb, 4 diminuzioni, 2 mb: tot 8 mb, 1 cat e girare il lavoro

24. 1 mb, 3 diminuzioni, 1 catenella, gira il lavoro, 1 diminuzione e chiudere lasciando del filo per cucire

A questo punto abbiamo ristretto il buco sotto il teschio e ottenuto la forma della dentatura

Imbottire bene solo la parte rotonda superiore del teschio, lasciando più vuota la parte stretta che diventerà la dentatura, poi cucire i due lembi come in foto:

Cucire una serie di ‘punti di blocco’ per definire la dentatura, cioè entrare e uscire con l’ago cucendo lungo la linea immaginaria all’inizio della dentatura

La struttura del teschio è pronta:

OCCHI

1. Con il cotone di colore nero lavorare 6 mb nell’anello magico.

2. 2 mb nelle 2 maglie seguenti e 1 maglia bassissima: tot 8 maglie

3. Cambiare colore con l’arancio e lavorare 1 giro di maglie bassissime tutto intorno: tot 8 maglie

4. (2 mezze maglie alte, 1 maglia bassissima) x 4 volte: tot. 12 maglie

chiudere lasciando del filo per cucire.

Ripetere una seconda volta per ottenere i due occhi.

FIORI

Fiore rosso:

1. 19 catenelle

2. Nella 4° catenella dall’uncino lavorare 2 maglie alte, 1 cat, salta 1 maglia, 1 maglia bassissima, (3 cat., 2 maglie alte nella stessa maglia, 1 cat, salta 1 maglia, 1 maglia bassissima nella successiva) ripetere per tutto il giro, chiudere e lasciare del filo per cucire.

Arrotolare su se stessa la strisciolina ottenuta in modo da formare il fiore e cucire per bloccarla.

Fiori azzurro e viola:

1. Con il cotone di colore azzurro (viola per il secondo fiore) Lavorare 15 catenelle

2. Nella 4° catenella dall’uncino 2 maglie alte, 1 cat, salta 1 maglia, 1 maglia bassissima, (3 cat., 2 maglie alte nella stessa maglia, 1 cat, salta 1 maglia, 1 maglia bassissima nella successiva) ripetere per tutto il giro, chiudere e lasciare del filo per cucire.

Arrotolare su se stessa la strisciolina ottenuta in modo da formare il fiore e cucire per bloccarla.

FOGLIE (3 pezzi)

1. Con il cotone di colore verde lavorare 6 catenelle

2. 1 mb nella 2° dall’uncino, 1 mezza maglia alta, 2 maglie alte, 1 maglia bassissima, chiudere lasciando del filo per cucire.

Abbiamo terminato tutti i pezzi, ora procedere a cucire gli occhi nella parte centrale del teschio e cucire i fiori e le foglie raggruppandoli in alto su un lato formando un mini bouquet

Ora ci possiamo sbizzarrire a decorare il teschio come vogliamo, utilizzando i colori che ci piacciono per realizzare ghirigori fioriti, via libera alla fantasia!

ENGLISH VERSION

Materials:

• coloured cotton yarn: white, black, orange, red, light blue, violet and many colors you like
• 2,5 mm crochet hook
• scissors
• yarn needle
• fiberfill for stuffing

 

HEAD

R1. Using the white yarn: 6 sc (single crochet) in magic ring. (6 sts)

R2. 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sts)

R3. (Sc 1, 2 st in next st) rep 6 times (18 sts)

R4. (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times (24 sts)

R5. (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times (30 sts)

R6. (Sc 4, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times (36 sts)

R7. (Sc 5, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times (42 sts)

R8. (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st, sc 3) rep 6 times (48 sts)

R9 – 15. Sc 48 mb (7 rounds)

R16. (Sc 6, 1 decrease) rep 6 times (42 sts)

R17. (Sc 3, 1 decrease) rep 5 times, sc 17 (37 sts)

R18. Sc 4, 1 decrease, sc 4, 2 decrease, sc 4, 1 decrease, sc 17 (33 sts)

Now proceed to work only one part of the round to decrease the hole

R22. Sc 13, 1 chain and turn

R23. Sc 2, 4 decrease, sc 2 (8 sts), 1 chain and turn

24. Sc 1, 3 decrease, 1 chain , turn, 1 decrease, fasten off and leave a long end for sewing

Now we decreased the hole and we obtained the teeth shape

Stuff only the round part, the upper one,  leaving the smaller part that will be the teeth with little stuffing , then sew the two  sides like in picture:

Sew a sequence of ‘block stitches’ to define the teeth: insert the needle in and out to sewing along the imaginary line in the beginning part of teeth

The structure of skull is ready

 

EYES

R1. Using the black yarn: 6 sc in magic ring. (6 sts)

R2. 2 sc in the 2 following stiches and 1 slip stich. (8 sts)

R3. Change color with orange and work 1 round of slip stiches. (8 sts)

R4. (2 hdc -half double crochet-, 1 sl st -slip stich-) rep 4 times. (12 sts)

Fasten off leaving long end to sewing.

Repeat a second time to have the two eyes.

 

FLOWERS

Red flowers:

R1. Chain 19 with the red cotton

R2. In the 4° chain from hook: dc (double crochet) 2, 1 chain, miss 1 stich, sl st 1, (3 chain, dc 2 in the same stich, 1 chain, miss 1 stich, sl st 1 in the following) repeat all around, fasten off and leave long end to sewing.

Roll on itself the little strip to make the flower and sew to block the obtained shape.

Light blue and violet flowers:

R1. Chain 15 with the light blue cotton (violet for the other flower)

R2. In the 4° chain from hook: dc 2, 1 chain, miss 1 stich, sl st 1, (3 chain, dc 2 in the same stich, 1 chain, miss 1 stich, sl st 1 in the following) repeat all around, fasten off and leave long end to sewing.

Roll on itself the little strip to make the flower and sew to block the obtained shape.

LEAVES (3 pieces)

R1. Chain 6 whit the green color yarn

R2. Sc 1 in the 2° from hook, hdc 1, dc 2, sl st 1, fasten off and leave long end to sewing.

We finished all pieces, now we proceed to sew the eyes in the central part of the skull and the flowers and leaves gather togheter in the right side above the skull

You can decorate the skull with whatever motif you like, free your mind!
