Sdentato (Toothless) Kawaii Amigurumi Pattern

Questo schema nasce da una richiesta custom in cui mi si chiedeva di realizzare Sdentato, il drago protagonista della serie di film Dragon Trainer.

Nei film, e nel libro da cui la serie di film d’animazione è tratta, Sdentato è una Furia Buia, un esemplare di drago raro e temutissimo, completamente nero con due grandi occhi verdi.

La sfida (e il divertimento) come sempre per me consistono proprio nel rendere puccioso il soggetto, e devo ammettere che in questo caso non ho faticato troppo, essendo questo draghetto già adorabile di suo.

TESTA

1. Con il cotone di colore nero lavorare 6 mb (maglie basse) nell’anello magico.

2. 2 mb in ogni maglia bassa: totale 12 mb

3. (1 mb, 2 mb nella stessa maglia) x 6 volte: tot. 18 mb

4. (2 mb, 2 mb nella stessa maglia) x 6 volte: tot. 24 mb

5. (3 mb, 2 mb nella stessa maglia) x 6 volte: tot. 30 mb

6. (4 mb, 2 mb nella stessa maglia) x 6 volte: tot. 36 mb

7-11. Lavorare 36 mb (5 giri)

12. (4 mb, 1 dim – diminuzione-) x 6 volte: tot. 30 mb

13. Lavorare 30 mb

14. (1 mb, 1 dim) x 6 volte, 12 mb: tot. 24 mb

15. Lavorare 24 mb

16. (2 mb, 1 dim) x 6 volte: tot. 18 mb

Inserire gli occhi in questo modo:

iniziare inserendo l’occhio sinistro tra il giro 12 e il 13, prendere come riferimento il segna punti, l’occhio va posizionato circa alla stessa altezza, a una distanza di circa 1 maglia da questo (vedi foto sotto). Poi inseriamo l’altro occhio lasciando 8 maglie tra uno e l’altro.

17. (1 mb, 1 dim) x 6 volte: tot. 12 mb

Imbottire

18. (1 dim) x 6 volte: tot. 6 mb

Chiudere e nascondere il filo all’interno della testa.

ORECCHIE (2 pezzi)

1. Con il cotone di colore nero lavorare 5 mb nell’anello magico.

2-3. Lavorare 5 mb – 2 giri –

Chiudere lasciando del filo per cucire.

Ripetere una seconda volta per la seconda orecchia.

SCAGLIE SUL MUSO (ripetere 2 volte, una sul lato destro e una sul lato sinistro della testa)

Prendere la testa e inserire l’uncino dove si trovano le guance, nella zona sotto l’occhio a circa 5 mm da questo:

1. 3 cat.

2. Partendo dalla 2° cat. dall’uncino lavorare 1 mb in ciascuna delle 2 cat. seguenti

3. Inserire l’uncino nella maglia in cui si sono lavorate le 3 catenelle iniziali e uscire nella maglia accanto, prendere il filo e lavorare 1 maglia bassissima, abbiamo terminato la prima scaglia

Entrare con l’uncino nella maglia accanto

4. Lavorare 3 catenelle, nella 3° cat. dall’uncino lavorare 1 maglia bassissima, abbiamo terminato anche l’altra scaglia, più piccola.

Entrare nella maglia accanto, lavorare una maglia bassissima e chiudere lasciando del filo per cucire bene le scaglie alla testa.

Ripetere una seconda volta dall’altro lato per avere 4 scaglie in totale.

Cucire le orecchie alla testa tra il giro 9 e 10.

Ricamare le narici con il filo da ricamo di colore bianco. Ricamarle sul penultimo giro della testa.

CORPO

1. Con il cotone di colore nero lavorare 6 mb nell’anello magico.

2. 2 mb in ogni maglia bassa: totale 12 mb

3. (1 mb, 2 mb nella stessa maglia) x 6 volte: tot. 18 mb

4. (2 mb, 2 mb nella stessa maglia) x 6 volte: tot. 24 mb

5-9. Lavorare 24 mb – 5 giri –

10. (4 mb, 1 dim) x 4 volte: tot. 20 mb

11. Lavorare 20 mb

12. (8 mb, 1 dim) x 2 volte: tot. 18 mb

Chiudere lasciando del filo per cucire.

ZAMPE (4 pezzi)

Entrare con l’uncino come in foto:

Filo sull’uncinetto, lavorare 4 cat. (catenelle)

A partire dalla 2° catenella dall’uncino lavorare 1 mb in ogni catenella: tot 3 mb

Chiudere e lasciare del filo per cucire la zampina al corpo.

Ripetere altre 3 volte per realizzare tutte e 4 le zampette. Lasciare 5 maglie tra una zampa e l’altra, posizionare le 2 zampe in basso ad una distanza di 4 giri da quelle in alto.

ALI (2 pezzi)

1. Con il cotone di colore nero lavorare 6 catenelle che chiameremo ‘catenelle di base’, per distinguerle dalle altre.

2. Nella 2° catenella di base dall’uncino lavorare 1 mezza maglia alta, 1 maglia bassissima nella catenella di base succ., 2 cat., 1 mb nella 2° cat. dall’uncino, 1 mb nella 3° catenella di base, 3 cat., 1 mb nella 2° cat. dall’uncino e nella cat. seguente, 1 mb nella 2° catenella di base, 1 mb nella 1° catenella di base.

Chiudere lasciando del filo per cucire.

CODA

1. Con il cotone di colore nero lavorare 4 mb nell’anello magico.

2. Lavorare 4 mb

3. (2 mb nella stessa maglia, 1mb) x 2 volte: tot. 6 mb

4-6. Lavorare 6 mb – 3 giri –

7. (2 mb nella stessa maglia, 2mb) x 2 volte: tot. 8 mb

Chiudere lasciando del filo per cucire

Procediamo con le 2 pinne della coda:

Con il filo di cotone nero entrare con l’uncino su un lato della coda all’altezza del 3° giro e lavorare 3 catenelle.

Lavorare una maglia bassissima nella seconda catenella dall’uncino e chiudere, lasciare del filo per fissare bene la mini pinna alla coda.

Ripetere una seconda volta sull’altro lato della coda usando il filo di colore rosso

Cucire la coda sul corpo posizionandola sul retro, in basso e poi cucire il corpo alla testa.

Siamo giunti alla fine, Sdentato è finalmente pronto per piroettare nel cielo!

ENGLISH VERSION

This pattern was born by a custom request for Toothles, the dragon from the Dragon Trainer animated movies.

In these movies, and in the book from which this animated series are drawn, Toothless is a Night Fury, a specimen of dragon rare and feared, completely black with two big green eyes.

The challange (and the fun) as usual for me consists in making the character cuter, and I have to admit that I didn’t exert myself too much this time, being this little fella adorable already.

Materials:

coloured cotton yarn: black and red
embroidery floss color white
2,5 mm crochet hook
scissors
yarn needle
a couple of 9 mm safety eyes with reptile pupil and green iris
fiberfill for stuffing

HEAD

R1. Using the black yarn: 6 sc (single crochet) in magic ring. (6 sts)

R2. 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sts)

R3. (Sc 1, 2 st in next st) rep 6 times (18 sts)

R4. (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times (24 sts)

R5. (Sc 3, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times (30 sts)

R6. (Sc 4, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times (36 sts)

R7-11. Sc 36 mb (5 rounds)

R12. (Sc 4, 1 decrease) rep 6 times (30 sts)

R13. Sc 30

R14. (Sc 1, 1 decrease) rep 6 times, sc 12 (24sts)

R15. Sc 24

R16. (Sc 2, 1 decrease) rep 6 times (18 sts)

Insert the eyes in this way:

Start putting the left eye between the round 12 and 13. Take as landmark the position of stitch marker, the eye must put about at the same height, one stitch higher from this (like in the following pic.). Then insert the other eye leaving 8 stitches between them.

R17. (Sc 1, 1 decrease) rep 6 times (12 sts)

Stuffing

R18. (1 decrease) rep 6 times (6 sts)

Fasten off and hide the end of yarn inside the head.

EARS (2 pieces)

R1. Using the black yarn: 5 sc in magic ring. (5 sts)

R2-3. Sc 5 (2 rounds)

Fasten off and leave a long end for sewing.

Repeat an other time to have the second ear.

SCALES ON THE FACE (repeate 2 times, one for the right side and one for the left side of the head)

Take the head and insert the hook where the cheeks are, in the area under the eye about 5 mm from the eye:

R1. 3 chains

R2. Starting from the 2° chain from hook, sc 1 in the 2 following chains.

R3. Insert the hook in the stitch where we made the 3 chains of R1 and pull it out in the near stitch, yarn over, 1 slip stitch, we finished the first scale.

Insert the hook in the near stitch.

R4. 3 chains, in the 3° chain from hook, 1 slip stitch, we finished the second scale.

Insert the hook in the near stitch, 1 slip stitch and fasten off leaving a long end for sewing the scales to the head.

Repeat a second time in the other side to have 4 scales totally.

Sew the ears in the top of the head, about between the rounds 9 and 10.

Using the white embroidery floss embroider the nostrils in the second to last round of the head.

BODY

R1. Using the black yarn: 6 sc in the magic ring. (6 sts)

R2. 2 sc in each sc around. (12 sts)

R3. (Sc 1, 2 st in next st) rep 6 times (18 sts)

R4. (Sc 2, 2 sc in next st) rep 6 times (24 sts)

R5-9. Sc 24 (5 rounds)

R10. (Sc 4, 1 decrease) rep 4 times (20 sts)

R11. Sc 20

R12. (Sc 8, 1 decrease) rep 2 times (18 sts)

Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

PAWS (4 pieces)

Insert the hook like in pic.:

Yarn over, 4 chains.

From the 2° chain from hook: sc 1 in each chain (3 sc)

Fasten off leaving a long end to sew the little paw to the body.

Repeat other 3 times to have all the paws.

Leave 5 stitches between the upper paws, make the 2 lower paws leaving 4 rounds from the upper paws.

WINGS (2 pieces)

R1. Using the black yarn: 6 chains that we will call ‘base chains’ to differentiate them from the others.

R2. From the 2° base chain from the hook: 1 half double-crochet, 1 slip stitch in the next base chain, 2 chains, 1 sc in the 2° chain from hook, 1 sc in the 3° base chain, 3 chain, 1 sc in the 2° chain from hook and in the next chain, 1 sc in the 2° base chain, sc 1 in the 1° base chain.

Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

TAIL

R1. Using the black yarn: 4 sc in the magic ring. (4 sts)

R2. Sc 4

R3. (2 st in the same st, 1 sc) rep 2 times (6 sts)

R4-6. Sc 6 (3 rounds)

R7. (2 st in the same st, 2 sc) rep 2 times (8 sts)

Fasten off leaving a long end for sewing.

Proceed working the le 2 fins of the tail:

Using the black yarn, insert the hook in one side of the tail, in the 3° rounds, 3 chains.

1 slip stitch in the in the 2° chain from hook, fasten off leaving a long end to sew firmly the fin to tail.

Repeat a second time in the other side of the tail using the red yarn, for the ‘fake’ fin of little Toothless.
